Family Ranks

Family Ranks is a 7-piece collective fusing Soul, Hip-Hop, Electronica and Reggae. They take listeners on a journey through lush expansive compositions, dark hard-hitting grooves and euphoric festival-anthems. The ensemble formed in 2014 out of a union between session band House of Lords (house band for Urban Music night 'All About Good Music') and two of Manchester’s sharpest song-writers; Ruby-Ann Patterson and James Gill.

Since then, through electrifying stage performances, they have quickly established themselves as a distinguished act in Manchester. They supported Natty on his 'Release The Fear' UK Tour, played the Craig Charles curated ‘Mostly Jazz Festival’ and also The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, ILuvLive and Sounds From the Other City.

After radio play on BBC Introducing Manchester, their first single ‘Hard To See Her Soul’ was selected for BBC Introducing on Radio 1Xtra and playlisted for the month of April 2016. 'Hard To See Her Soul’ and ‘She’ also received airplay on Tom Robinson’s Introducing show on BBC Radio 6 Music. This was followed by a sold out headline show at Deaf Institute in Manchester in August. They joined the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club for two sold out dates in Liverpool and Manchester.
